Every Life is a Story.
I absolutely believe that every person has at least one book inside of them and so I spend a lot of time encouraging people to tell their unique story, write it down, give it to the world. Add spice to the world!
You are unique and the story of your life, your experiences and your ‘take’ on everything is amazing. To you it’s just you being, well, you. To someone else it’s a whole new world that’s both different and the same to theirs. Different because of how your life story has unfolded and the same in the joys and sorrows and lessons we all meet.
I love writing! As far back as I can remember I’ve written in one form or another and for years my public writing was academic, serious, important. I don’t know why, I felt it was easier and that somehow I had more control over it as I dealt with facts, training and outcomes. I started a trilogy once and revelled in my time out from business twice a week when I spent mornings at home writing. But life happened and that trilogy was lost. So you see, I understand the whole developmental process and the starts that don’t form fully. I used this knowledge to help me grow and hone my craft.
In secret I wrote poems and short stories and finally entered one of my poems in a national competition while I lived in America. I won second prize. That was liberating! I let go of my restraints I held. The inner conflict about writing arose out of my personality and my desire being at loggerheads with one another. I’m a very private person and very selective about what I had shared about my own growth and journey and yet I had this burning desire to share with others the amazing discoveries I had made. I had so much I wanted to share with others and that desire finally won over my reserve!
That was many, many years ago and I’m so glad I took the plunge and wrote my first book. It’s one of my Life Snapshots I look back on with warmth and pride. When I hold one of my books in my hands I always have moment where I’ll look down at the cover and my heart will skip a beat as I say to myself, ‘I made this. It exists and touches others because I gave it life.’ Honestly, it never gets old.
I cannot imagine the fabric of my life without that huge part of writing and publishing woven through it. It’s not all fuzzy feelings. I had no-one to teach me or encourage me and the writing course I went on only took me that far. I felt whole areas weren’t covered. So I supplemented my Swiss Cheese knowledge of writing on my own and grew my skills, my patience, my diligence and knowledge.
I love it and aim to be a creative contagion to others to liberate their story. I’ve been asked so many times lately to offer my three hour ‘Write of Passage Workshop’ to launch other authors waiting in the wings with a heart bursting with life and a mind running along the story…
Perhaps it’s time for you to let your story out too, what do you think?

Having attended the ‘Write of Passage Workshop’ today, I feel like the idea of publishing my own book has become more real. Ligeia packed a lot of information into the session but not so much that it was overwhelming. Ligeia said that I would be ready to start the process following the workshop, I can say that’s definitely the case. I valued the reassurance that what I had to say (in book form) was worth sharing with others. Thanks again Ligeia!
I had a fun time interacting with you guys and loved your idea for books and hope you will extend it to other merchandise. I wish you every success!
